SUMMERLIN LAS VEGAS
Summerlin, the fastest growing Master Planned Community in the nation, is approacing the halfway point in terms of population. With a projected total population of more than 200,000, Summerlin now has approximately 95,000 residents. Most of the acreage still available in Summerlin is located in the community’s western and southern regions, which are now under development. Summerlin news for 2007 includes 3 new schools - Bishop Gorman Catholic High School, Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson School and the Wilbur & Theresa Faiss Middle School. The total number of schools within Summerlin will be 22. Ground is expected to be broken in July on a non-gaming 80,000 square foot Westin Hotel in Summerlin. The $19 million property will feature 125 rooms and will be Summerlin’s third hotel and its second non-gaming hotel. And Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa will add a 72-lane bowling facility at its new property. This year will also see new development and changes to The Ridges, Summerlin’s luxury village, surrounding Jack Nicklaus’ Bear’s Best Las Vegas Golf Course.
